Deputies in Williamson County, Illinois, have arrested William Alexander Reed in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries and stolen property cases across the region.
On February 15, 2025, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of multiple overnight vehicle break-ins on Lady Bug Lane and Dragon Fly Lane. Stolen items included firearms, personal IDs, credit cards, clothing, and electronics.
Investigation Leads to Arrest
Authorities identified Reed, of Carterville, as a suspect. He had previously been charged with felony theft in October 2024 but was released pretrial under Illinois’ Safe-T Act.
On March 4, 2025, deputies discovered a stolen vehicle from Marion near Reed’s residence. Upon searching the home, they found Reed hiding in a bathroom shower and arrested him on a Jackson County burglary warrant.
A search warrant led to the recovery of stolen firearms, computers, personal IDs, and other property connected to nearly a dozen burglary cases across Williamson County.
Additional Suspects Sought
Reed now faces multiple charges, including:
Possession of a stolen firearm
Burglary
Possession of stolen property
Possession of cannabis
He is being held at the Williamson County Jail, while authorities continue to search for two additional suspects believed to be involved in the burglaries.
