PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL — Detectives with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) began investigations on March 28, 2025, and April 3, 2025, into two separate PayPal email scams that collectively defrauded victims of $30,000. Through diligent investigative efforts, authorities identified Wilkens Eugene as the suspect connected to both scams.

Eugene was arrested and charged with Occupied Burglary, Grand Theft over $10,000, Scheme to Defraud, and Computer Crime to Defraud Property. PBSO detectives are continuing their investigation into Eugene’s activities related to the scams.

The victims of the fraud were tricked into responding to fraudulent PayPal emails that appeared legitimate. The scammer posed as a PayPal representative, asking for sensitive personal information or directing the victims to counterfeit websites. Once on these fake sites, victims unknowingly provided their financial details, which led to significant financial loss.

Detectives are actively working to uncover additional victims or any other scams Eugene may be linked to.
