Annamayya district police have solved the shocking murder of Madanapalle realtor N Gangadhar by arresting his wife Vanitha and two accomplices.
The 37-year-old realtor and moneylender was found dead at his home near Basinikonda, Madanapalle, on June 16. His wife, N Vanitha, initially claimed unknown men had smothered him with a boulder while he slept. The police registered a case following a complaint by the victim’s brother, N Venkatesh, said Annamayya SP V Vidyasagar Naidu.
Suspicious of Vanitha’s disappearance the day after the murder, police apprehended her along with Sadum Reddy Ramu (36) and Ganji Mahesh (20) near Madanapalle. Vanitha confessed to orchestrating the murder, the SP added.
Vanitha revealed she married Gangadhar in 2012 and they have two children, aged 10 and 7. She accused her husband of womanizing, lending money to women and coercing them into sex when they couldn’t repay loans. He reportedly recorded intimate photos and videos and tormented several women.
“Unable to endure his acts any longer, I planned his murder,” Vanitha told police. She said she enlisted Sadum and Ganji’s help. On June 16, she slipped sleeping pills into his food and, once he was unconscious, killed him by smothering him with a large boulder.
Police recovered the murder weapon from the scene. The accused were presented in Madanapalle court and remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday.
SP Vidyasagar Naidu confirmed investigations will continue due to new revelations made by Vanitha.
