WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Seven people were arrested and a stolen vehicle recovered during a police operation targeting street crimes and outstanding warrants, West Hartford Police reported Wednesday.
Officers and detectives made four felony arrests and three misdemeanor arrests during the sweep. Two parolees were also taken into custody by state fugitive officers. Additional arrests included two men for fleeing police and one man for drug dealing. Warrants for failure to appear were also served.
During the operation, a detective spotted a stolen car that had been taken from New Britain. When officers approached, the occupants attempted to flee but were apprehended after a brief foot chase.
Driver Javeon Zymell Stevens Christopher, 21, of Waterbury, is a convicted deadly weapons offender on parole with warrants for escaping custody and missing court appearances. State parole officers took him into custody.
Passenger Raymond Perez, 21, of New Britain, is also a deadly weapons offender on parole. Officers recovered nearly two ounces of marijuana from him. Both men face charges related to the stolen vehicle and interfering with police.
