ELMORE COUNTY, AL – A woman is facing serious charges after authorities say she attempted to smuggle drugs into the Elmore Correctional Facility during a visit on Sunday.
According to the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC), Wendy Michelle Strothers was arrested after correctional officers discovered she had 77 grams of synthetic Cathinones and 1.7 grams of Suboxone concealed inside her pants.
Strothers was immediately taken into custody by Elmore County authorities and charged with:
Drug trafficking
Promoting prison contraband
She is currently being held at the Elmore County Jail, and the ADOC has launched an ongoing investigation into the incident.
