In a significant crackdown on tax evasion, the Anti-Evasion wing of CGST and Central Excise, Thane Commissionerate has uncovered a massive GST credit fraud amounting to Rs47.32 crore. The key accused, Vivek Rajesh Maurya, who operated M/s KSM Enterprises, was arrested for orchestrating the scam involving fraudulent Input Tax Credit (ITC) without any actual supply of goods or services.

The case was detected through a combination of in-house intelligence and advanced data analytics. During a search at Maurya’s residence, authorities recovered incriminating evidence such as bank passbooks, chequebooks, multiple mobile phones, and documents tied to various shell companies.

According to officials, Maurya admitted to running the fake credit racket, collecting commissions and directly profiting from the fraud. He was arrested on August 19, 2025, and remanded to 14 days’ judicial custody by a magistrate in Thane.

Authorities confirm that this arrest is part of CGST’s wider effort to crack down on fake GST claims, which undermine government revenues and harm fair competition. Investigations are ongoing, with more arrests and disclosures expected in the coming days.
