The Delhi Police have arrested 23-year-old Vishal, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, in connection with the murder of Dhamar alias Firoz Khan, a known associate of the Vicky Takkar gang. The accused had been on the run since February, frequently changing locations to evade arrest.
According to the police, Khan was brutally attacked on the night of February 10 by a group of men, including Vishal. He succumbed to his injuries three days later at DDU Hospital, prompting the registration of a murder case at Uttam Nagar Police Station.
A major breakthrough came after police analyzed over 100 phone numbers linked to Vishal’s acquaintances and relatives. Initially traced to Ayodhya, he was later found in Varanasi, where he had traveled for a family ritual. He was arrested by a Delhi Police team from there.
During interrogation, Vishal reportedly revealed that Sonu, one of the co-conspirators, was upset over alleged harassment of his sister by Khan. After warnings failed to resolve the issue, Sonu and his associates plotted Khan’s murder.
On the night of the crime, the group assaulted Khan with sticks, and Sonu struck him fatally on the head with a concrete block. Vishal then fled and took up low-profile jobs in Firozabad, Ayodhya, and Varanasi, using false identities to avoid capture.
With his arrest, the police have taken a key conspirator into custody and are continuing their investigation to track the rest of the accused involved in the gang-related killing.
