A man wanted in connection with a double murder case was arrested alongside his accomplice after a police encounter near Kaju village in Kaushambi district early Wednesday. The injured accused, Virendra (40) from Malaka, was admitted to the district hospital, while his aide, Shivbabu Pasi from Bhikari Ka Purwa, was also taken into custody.

The murders took place near Gauhani Kala village under Charwa police station limits on June 29, where two victims, Gudia and Gore Lal, were found dead. Following the incident, police registered a case under Section 103 (1) of BNS.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint force from the Special Operations Group (SOG), Surveillance, and Charwa police intercepted the suspects near Kaju village. When ordered to stop, Virendra opened fire on the police, who retaliated, injuring him during the exchange.

During interrogation, the accused admitted knowing the victims. The incident reportedly began when Gore Lal made an inappropriate advance towards a woman, which was reciprocated by the accused. When Gore Lal became aggressive, Virendra and his accomplice attacked him and the woman with an iron rod, resulting in their deaths. After the attack, the accused fled but were soon apprehended by police.
