Panipat police arrested four men allegedly involved in the murder of 40-year-old Vikram from Shastri Colony, Khatik Basti, on Friday night. The arrests followed a brief shootout on Mohali-Babail Road late Saturday evening.
Authorities recovered two country-made pistols and two live cartridges from the accused during the operation.
DSP Satish Vats stated that following the murder, Superintendent of Police Bhupender Singh directed teams to quickly solve the case. The CIA-1 team, led by Inspector Phool Kumar, received a tip that the suspects were on Babail Road and conducted a raid.
During the operation, the accused fired at the police, who retaliated in self-defence. All four suspects were apprehended. Two, Akshay and Deepak, sustained bullet injuries to their legs and were admitted to Civil Hospital for treatment.
The accused were identified as Deepak and Sahil, residents of Shastri Colony, and Akshay and Suraj, residents of Khatik Basti. Investigation revealed prior criminal records: Akshay has five cases related to altercations and Arms Act violations, Deepak has one case, and Sahil has two cases related to altercations.
