Ahmedabad — A 42-year-old Gujarat man has been arrested in the United States on charges of human trafficking, sexual abuse, rape, and theft by deception, following complaints by two former employees in Kentucky.
Paducah police said Vikas Patel, a travel agent, was arrested on Monday and lodged at the McCracken County Jail after an investigation that began in December 2025. One woman alleged Patel withheld her wages while she rented an apartment from him, with detectives confirming her salary was deposited into his bank account.
She also accused Patel of repeated unwanted sexual advances. The investigation later uncovered allegations from a second woman, who told police she worked for Patel while under 18 and was subjected to commercial sexual activity. She further alleged she was sexually assaulted after being lured to a hotel room.
Patel now faces multiple charges, including human trafficking involving a minor, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree rape under complicity, and theft by deception under $10,000.
