In a major breakthrough, police in Rajasthan have uncovered an extensive drug and arms smuggling network operating across Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, and the Fazilka district. The racket is allegedly being directed by Vikas Jhorar, a native of Umewala village in Hanumangarh, who is believed to be hiding abroad.
The case gained momentum after police arrested three individuals — Davinder Bhambhu, Subhash alias Ankit, and Satnam Singh alias Gurvinder Singh — and seized a cache of heroin, foreign-made pistols, magazines, and cartridges. During interrogation, the accused revealed the existence of a larger syndicate headed by Jhorar, acting as the key foreign handler.
Sriganganagar SP Gaurav Yadav confirmed that Jhorar was formerly employed at a liquor shop in Umewala in 2020, where he came into contact with Sahil Godara, an associate of the now-deceased Sunil Yadav alias Goliya. Yadav, a resident of Waryam Khera village in Abohar, was shot dead in California in December last year.
After Yadav’s death, Jhorar assumed control of the drug and weapons network, reportedly assisted by Ankit Nayak and Lalli, both residents of Abohar. Police believe a large consignment of foreign-made pistols was ordered by Jhorar, possibly for use in an organized crime act.
Further investigations have revealed a wider nexus involving Ankit Nayak, Sahil Godara, Satnam Singh, Davinder Bhambhu, and Jeet, all from Abohar. The group is accused of supplying illegal heroin and firearms from Malout and Amritsar to criminal networks operating across Rajasthan and Punjab.
Authorities are currently expanding their investigation to trace international links and identify more operatives in India and abroad.
