New Delhi: After nearly a decade on the run, Vikas Jain (48), a fugitive wanted in armed robbery and bank fraud cases from 2013, has been arrested by the Delhi Police Crime Branch in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Jain, a resident of Kohat Enclave in northwest Delhi and Indore, had been declared a proclaimed offender in two separate cases. In December 2013, he allegedly shot at a businessman near Azadpur flyover while attempting to steal Rs 18 lakh. The victim survived the attack.
In a separate bank fraud case in Karol Bagh, Jain reportedly forged loan documents to secure Rs 30 lakh, encashing drafts through a fake bank account. After securing bail in both cases, he absconded and moved across locations to evade arrest, settling in Indore about two years ago.
Delhi Police acted on a tip-off and tracked Jain to the Aerodrome area of Indore. He was arrested and brought back to Delhi, where he was produced in court. Authorities continue the probe to recover the stolen funds.
