The Ernakulam Town North police arrested two individuals, including a woman, for breaking into a house at Thrikkakara and stealing household items worth Rs24,000 in the early hours of Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Viji, a resident of Anna Nagar, Chennai, and Suresh, hailing from Thovalavattom, Kanyakumari. Acting swiftly, a special police squad apprehended the duo within hours of the incident.
According to police reports, the burglary occurred around 1:00 a.m. at a house near St. Benedict Cross Road, opposite the Neelankattu residence. The stolen items included a wash basin, pipe and motor fittings, a UPS battery, ladder, kitchen rack, and a gas stove.
The theft came to light when the homeowners discovered the missing items in the morning and filed a police complaint. Prompt investigation led to the arrest of the culprits and the recovery of all stolen goods.
In a separate incident, Maradu police arrested Jyotiraj Mandal, a 25-year-old migrant worker from Gajapati, Odisha, for the theft of a jeep parked near Poonithura, Vyttila.
Police continue to investigate both cases and have urged residents to report any suspicious activity immediately.
