In a major success, Vijayawada police arrested six individuals from Uttar Pradesh for their involvement in a high-profile heist at a warehouse in Enikepadu, Vijayawada. The gang, led by a man named Ranjit, managed to steal electronic items worth Rs 2.51 crore, including iPhones and laptops.
The gang had been closely monitoring warehouses in the region and chose to target the Enikepadu warehouse on the night of February 5. They broke into the warehouse by cutting through the roof and made off with the stolen items.
However, their escape was short-lived. On February 7, the police apprehended the gang members while they were attempting to flee to Bihar. All stolen goods, including the iPhones and laptops, were recovered by the police.
An investigation is ongoing into how the gang was able to gather information about the warehouse’s security systems. To prevent similar crimes, the Vijayawada police have announced an increase in security measures, which will include the installation of CCTV cameras and the formation of security monitoring committees for warehouses and stores in the area.
