ANNANDALE, Va. — A woman from Alexandria is in custody after allegedly robbing a bank in broad daylight in the center of Annandale.
The Fairfax County Police Department reports that the incident took place shortly after 12 p.m. on Monday at a bank in the 7000 block of Little River Turnpike. Investigators say the suspect approached a teller and handed over a note with threats demanding cash. While no weapon was shown, the note allegedly indicated harm would come to the teller if they didn’t comply.
The woman fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money before officers arrived. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Detectives were able to trace a 2017 Honda Civic linked to the crime. The vehicle led authorities to the suspect’s residence, where they arrested 36-year-old Vicky Vien Phung of Alexandria.
Phung now faces a felony robbery charge and is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
