Two men from Natchitoches have been arrested on multiple drug and firearm charges following a police investigation.
Authorities identified the suspects as Vernon Rachal, 47, and Matthew Daniels, 41. The arrests followed a search conducted on March 10 around 8 a.m. in the 1600 block of Sabine Street, targeting reports of illegal narcotics sales in the area.
Charges for Vernon Rachal include:
Felon in possession of a firearm
Two counts of felon in possession of CDS Schedule II narcotics
Two counts of possession of CDS Schedule II narcotics with intent to distribute
Charges for Matthew Daniels include:
Two counts of felon in possession of a firearm
Simple possession of marijuana
During the search, officers recovered:
13 grams of suspected meth
15 grams of suspected marijuana
Approximately nine ounces of suspected crack cocaine
One Glock 43 9mm handgun
One Springfield 9mm handgun
One .22 caliber AR rifle
The Natchitoches Police Department stated the arrests came after a lengthy investigation into illicit drug sales in the neighborhood. Both men were taken into custody pending further legal proceedings.
