A case has been registered against a woman in Samana, Patiala, for allegedly suffocating her husband, Harpreet Singh, 29, with a pillow. The incident occurred on the night of April 24-25, 2025, when Harpreet’s wife, Veerpal Kaur, is said to have murdered him in their room. After the crime, Veerpal reportedly remained in the room with his body for several hours, according to the police.
The case came to light when Harpreet’s mother, Harpal Kaur, filed a complaint after her son went unresponsive and did not answer his phone the following day. She described how her son had consumed alcohol the previous evening and that Veerpal took him to their room at 9 pm. The room remained locked the next day, and when Harpreet failed to respond, his nephew was sent to check on him. Upon entering, they discovered Harpreet dead, showing signs of assault.
The police, led by Station House Officer Vikramjit Singh of Sadar Samana, registered a murder case. However, as of now, Veerpal Kaur remains at large. The investigation has revealed that Veerpal was dealing with depression and was undergoing treatment. She is survived by a five-year-old daughter, and her sister has taken on the responsibility of caring for the child. Further inquiries into the case are ongoing.
