RENSSELAER COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York State Police arrested 55-year-old George Gorman of Valley Falls on January 9, 2025, after a theft investigation revealed that he had allegedly misappropriated donations intended for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS).

The investigation began following reports on August 20, 2024, indicating that donations meant for the NMSS were stolen. Authorities discovered that Gorman had collected funds throughout 2024 in the form of cash and checks for the charity, only to deposit them into several of his personal bank accounts instead of forwarding them to the organization.

As a result of these findings, Gorman was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud. He was issued an appearance ticket for January 20 at Schaghticoke Town Court. State police confirmed that the NMSS has been cooperative with the ongoing investigation.
