Valerie Bonner Charged After Man’s Body Found Decomposed

Foley woman accused of corpse abuse, hid identity of deceased

by Sophia Bennett

FOLEY, Ala. (WALA) – A Foley woman, Valerie Bonner, has been arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse after authorities discovered a man’s decomposed body inside her apartment.

According to police, Bonner failed to report the man’s death and actively attempted to conceal his identity by discarding his wallet and cell phone in a dumpster. Officers responded to a welfare check at the Alison Pointe Apartments, where they made the grim discovery.

The body had decayed to the point that forensic methods were required to identify the man. Court documents state Bonner knowingly allowed the body to remain in her residence, with no attempt to contact authorities.

Police say foul play is not suspected at this time, but an autopsy is being conducted to determine the official cause of death. The identity of the deceased has been confirmed, though the duration the body remained in the apartment has not been disclosed.

Bonner now faces charges for corpse abuse, and the investigation remains ongoing.
