SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. – Jayven Christian Jolly, 31, a United States Postal Service employee, was arrested for allegedly stealing money orders from apartment dropboxes and cashing them at ATMs.
Authorities say Jolly, who works out of the South Miami Post Office branch, targeted residents’ rent payments, allegedly taking money orders intended for landlords. One victim reported placing four money orders totaling $1,800 in a rent dropbox at the Villa Fontana apartments, only to discover later that the payments never reached the landlord. A Western Union claim revealed that Jolly had cashed the stolen funds, according to arrest documents.
Investigators found multiple victims with similar incidents, suggesting that Jolly may have cashed thousands of dollars in stolen money orders. Surveillance footage from a Navy Federal Credit Union reportedly captured Jolly at an ATM, in possession of several money orders.
Jolly, a resident of North Miami Beach, was taken into custody and booked into jail. He faces charges including grand theft, organized scheme to defraud, communications fraud, forgery, and uttering forged instruments.
A USPS spokesperson confirmed that Jolly is currently in non-duty status. “Due to privacy issues, the Postal Service does not publicly discuss personnel matters,” said Debra Jean Fetterly.
