In a dramatic bust, a joint operation by Haryana Police and Nakur Police on Monday uncovered 50 boxes of stolen army ammunition from a godown in the Sotiganj scrap market — a known hub for dismantled and stolen vehicles.
The raid was triggered after a Pollution Control Board (PCB) vehicle was stolen from Sawanpuri Colony in Jagadhari, Haryana, earlier that morning. Thanks to an inbuilt GPS tracker, the vehicle was traced to Sotiganj, prompting the coordinated raid.
During the operation, police arrested Usman, a resident of Mohalla Banjaran, Nakur, and two others — Zubair and Uwais from Kamela Colony, Saharanpur.
Inside the godown, police discovered wooden boxes with etched serial numbers, believed to be used by the Indian Army to store ammunition. Investigators suspect these were stolen from military stockpiles.
Police are continuing their probe into how army-grade materials ended up in a vehicle scrapyard and whether a larger network is involved.
