The Uttar Pradesh Police have made notable strides in crime control using the Yaksh App, a technology-driven smart policing tool designed for enhanced surveillance, investigation, and suspect tracking. The application was developed under the supervision of Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna.
In a major success, Rae Bareli police busted a vehicle theft gang and recovered five stolen vehicles using the app. The case began on February 16, when an SUV was reported stolen from the Bachhrawan area. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Ravi Kumar, the investigation team employed the Yaksh App to identify nearby CCTV cameras. Analysis suggested suspects were operating from Mau.
A key accused, Pradeep, along with his associates, was arrested on March 16.
In another breakthrough, Firozabad police used the app’s facial recognition feature to apprehend a murder accused who had been absconding for nearly a decade. Sanoj, son of Pancham Singh, was wanted for a 2016 murder case registered at Linepar police station. Acting under SSP Saurabh Dixit, police verified his identity through the Yaksh App on March 7. The app’s photo-matching technology confirmed him as the suspect, and he was arrested on March 15.
DGP Krishna commended both district police teams for their effective use of the application and directed all districts to proactively deploy the Yaksh App to strengthen crime detection and prevention efforts.
