In a shocking case, Uttar Pradesh Police arrested Rajan Singh for posing as an excise department officer and marrying multiple women to defraud them of lakhs of rupees. The arrest followed complaints from two women who alleged that Rajan gained their trust by pretending to be an excise officer, only to later deceive them financially.
The ongoing police investigation has revealed that Rajan is believed to have trapped eight to nine women, most of whom were schoolteachers, by pretending to be an excise official. He would approach them under the guise of his profession, gain their confidence, and marry them.
One woman from Sant Kabir Nagar accused Rajan of defrauding her of Rs 42 lakh, claiming he emotionally blackmailed her after winning her trust. Another woman from Ambedkarnagar reported that Rajan took Rs 10 lakh from her, citing various reasons.
As the investigation progresses, police are looking into the possibility that more women may have fallen victim to Rajan’s fraudulent schemes. The authorities are working to gather further details and confirm if any additional victims were involved in his deceptive marriage plot.
