Kolkata police, in coordination with Saharanpur authorities in Uttar Pradesh, arrested Sanjay Sinha, a notorious fraudster, from a high-rise in Jadavpur on Saturday night. Sinha is accused of orchestrating a multi-crore scam spanning several states and faces charges under the Gangster Act as well as fraud and forgery laws.
According to officials, Sinha posed as a businessman and used fake tenders from reputed organizations to lure companies into executing projects. He promised payment after project completion but would abscond after making minimal initial payments.
During interrogation, Sinha admitted to purchasing the Jadavpur flat and multiple properties in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi using the proceeds of his criminal activities. Investigators are examining the extent of his operations and the companies affected by the scam.
