Unlicensed Contractor Jesse Steven Diaz Arrested for Felony Theft in Nevada

Battle Born Fence owner charged after taking deposit without work

The Nevada State Contractors Board (NSCB), in collaboration with the Nevada State Police Capitol Police Division, arrested Jesse Steven Diaz, owner of Battle Born Fence, on a felony theft warrant related to contracting without a valid license.

Diaz, who had a felony warrant for theft up to $5,000, was hired in 2023 by a northern Nevada homeowner to build a fence and gates on their property. Despite receiving a $2,500 cash deposit, Diaz failed to perform any of the contracted work or supply materials.

Following a complaint from the customer, the NSCB launched an investigation that confirmed the allegations. The case was forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office, which led to the issuance of the felony warrant.

The NSCB reminds consumers to always verify that contractors hold an active license before hiring, especially for projects exceeding $1,000 or involving critical trades such as plumbing, electrical, or HVAC.
