Uma Patil Arrested in Job-for-Cash Scam in Goa

Woman detained for defrauding ₹4 lakh in job scam case.

In a recent development, Uma Patil, a resident of Baina-Vasco, has been arrested in connection with a job-for-cash scam after a complaint was filed by a woman in Nadora. According to police, Patil allegedly defrauded the complainant’s spouse of Rs4 lakh in August last year. She had promised him a job in exchange for the sum, but the job was never offered, and the loaned amount was not repaid.

The case was filed with the Colvale police on November 14. Following the report, the Colvale police initiated a probe into the matter and arrested Patil, who was already in custody by the Vasco police in connection with another case. The Mapusa court has granted the Colvale police five days of custody to further investigate the scam. Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that more details will be revealed as the case progresses.
