Thanks to a swift alert from a Delhi-based surveillance system, Ullal police arrested a man caught attempting to steal cash from an ATM in Kotekaru Beeri late Thursday night.
The accused, identified as 41-year-old Nagappa Keralatti from Kustagi in Koppal district, was apprehended around 3 am while trying to break open the cash box of an SBI ATM.
Police reported that Nagappa entered the ATM kiosk at approximately 2:30 am and used tools to damage the cash box. His actions triggered an alert in the central monitoring system, which tracks ATMs across districts from Delhi.
Upon receiving the alert, surveillance staffer Ranjith informed Deepak Amin, in charge of the Beeri ATM, who immediately contacted the emergency helpline 112. Ullal police responded promptly and arrested Nagappa inside the kiosk, preventing the theft.
