Spanish authorities arrested Jamie Rothwell, a UK crime gang leader behind a £26 million drug empire, in an apartment in Barcelona. The 38-year-old Salford man was seen dancing and smiling for the camera as officers escorted him away, footage released by Greater Manchester Police on August 15 shows.
Rothwell, who led an organised crime group responsible for trafficking drugs and firearms into the UK, pleaded guilty to multiple offences earlier this year. On August 14, he was sentenced to 43 years in prison for his crimes.
Despite his lighthearted demeanor during the arrest, police remarked, “He is not dancing now,” reflecting the severity of his sentence.
