UGA Football Player Jahzare Jackson Arrested on Felony Drug Charge

ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia football player Jahzare Jackson was arrested on multiple charges last week, including felony possession of marijuana, according to jail records.

The sophomore offensive lineman was taken into custody in Athens on July 16. He faces a felony charge for possession of more than one ounce of marijuana, in addition to misdemeanor charges: possession of less than an ounce, possession and use of drug-related objects, and physically supporting a wireless device while driving.

According to the arrest warrant, Jackson was allegedly holding a cellphone while driving. Jail records show he was released the following morning on bonds totaling $5,030.

Jackson, who appeared in all 14 games last season for the Georgia Bulldogs, is the latest UGA athlete to face legal issues. There has been no comment yet from the university regarding disciplinary action.
