The Udupi police have arrested seven Bangladeshi immigrants for using fake Aadhaar cards to stay in India illegally for over three years. The arrests came after Mohammed Manik, a 26-year-old man from Bangladesh, was caught by Immigration officials at Mangaluru airport on October 10, attempting to fly to Dubai using a fake passport.
According to Udupi Superintendent of Police K. Arun, the arrested individuals had been residing in Udupi for several years, using fraudulent documents to stay in the country. They were reportedly staying with Mohammed Manik, who was arrested after Immigration officials discovered the fake passport during his routine checks at the airport.
The police are continuing to investigate the use of fake documents and are working with immigration authorities to identify any possible links to a larger network involved in forging Aadhaar cards and passports. The seven arrested individuals are expected to face legal proceedings for illegal immigration and document fraud.
The Udupi police have reassured that they will remain vigilant in tracking and detaining individuals involved in similar illegal activities.
