Udupi Police Arrest Ashik Ansar in Inter-State Bike Theft

Stolen two-wheeler recovered, accused traced to Kerala

Udupi Town police have arrested two inter-state motorcycle theft suspects and recovered a stolen two-wheeler in connection with a theft reported from Moodanidamburu village.

According to the complaint, Nagachandra (32) had parked his motorcycle near the Landmark Building on Karavali Bypass Road around 9 pm on December 28. When he returned to the spot at around 7 am the following day, the vehicle was found missing. The stolen motorcycle was estimated to be worth Rs70,000.

Based on the complaint, Udupi Town police registered a case and launched an investigation. Under the guidance of Udupi sub-division Deputy Superintendent of Police DT Prabhu and the supervision of Udupi Town police inspector-in-charge Mahesh Prasad P, a special team was formed to track the accused.

Led by police sub-inspectors Bharatesh Kankanavadi and Gopalakrishna Jogi, the team traced the suspects to Mukkam in Kozhikode district of Kerala and apprehended them.

The arrested persons were identified as Ashik Ansar (19) and Mohammed Altaf (23), both residents of Ernakulam district, Kerala. Police recovered the stolen motorcycle from their possession.

Police records revealed that Ashik Ansar is involved in two criminal cases in Kerala, including a house burglary case and a ganja consumption case. Mohammed Altaf has five cases registered against him, including three theft cases and two cases related to ganja consumption.

Further investigation is underway.
