MANCHESTER, N.H. — A late-night encounter on Elm Street turned into a foot chase and arrest early Monday, resulting in injuries to both the suspect and a police officer.
According to Manchester Police, bicycle patrol officers observed a group of individuals engaging in suspicious behavior around 12:40 a.m. near 1061 Elm St. The group then jaywalked across the street, prompting officers to radio dispatch.
At that point, one man fled on foot. He was later identified as Tyvon Watson, 28, of Manchester. Police pursued Watson and charged him with possession of a controlled drug and resisting arrest.
During the foot chase, an officer was exiting a Ford Expedition police cruiser when the vehicle unintentionally rolled forward, striking both Watson and the officer.
Both individuals were transported to a local hospital. Watson received immediate medical attention, and the officer, who suffered an arm injury, was also evaluated.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, and additional details may be released at a later time.
