Philadelphia, PA – Tysean Forsythe, 21, was arrested on Wednesday in connection to the June 2023 death of 47-year-old Heather Rainey in North Philadelphia. Forsythe is facing several charges, including murder, conspiracy, carjacking, and robbery.

On June 22, police responded to a report of a person with a gun on the 700 block of West Poplar Street. Upon arrival, officers from the Philadelphia Housing Authority discovered Rainey with a gunshot wound to her chest. She was transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Authorities found Rainey’s 2017 Dodge Durango at the scene, still running with a smashed window and personal belongings scattered inside, leading to Forsyte’s identification as a suspect. An arrest warrant was issued shortly thereafter.

On Wednesday, while investigating a separate stolen car case, authorities encountered Forsythe on East Wishart Street in Kensington. He was taken into custody just a short distance away on the 1900 block of East Allegheny Avenue after being identified in connection to the warrant.

Forsythe’s arrest marks a significant development in the investigation, as police continue to search for additional details surrounding the case.
