BOSTON, Massachusetts – A Dorchester man was arrested after allegedly trying to sell stolen skis on Facebook Marketplace, Boston police said.

Tyrone Snead, 43, faces one charge of receiving stolen property valued over $1,200. He is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.

Police said the victim spotted his stolen skis listed online and contacted the Boston Police Department. Officers arranged a meeting with Snead near Massachusetts Avenue and Washington Street, later relocating to the lobby of 155 Northampton Street.

At the location, officers confirmed the skis matched the Facebook listing and took Snead into custody. The skis were returned to the victim.

Snead also had an active warrant from Roxbury District Court for a drug possession charge.

Officials reminded the public about “Safe Exchange Zones” inside BPD stations, designed for secure transactions from online marketplaces. These zones are monitored 24 hours a day, and a list of locations is available on the Boston Police Department website.
