Tyliek Hanks, Juwan Baker Arrested in Danville Homicide

Both charged in deadly Carver Drive shooting on June 1

DANVILLE, VA – Two men have been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting that took place during a large gathering on Carver Drive in Danville on Sunday, June 1, which resulted in the death of 22-year-old Jay’Shaun Tiejae White.

Juwan Montel Baker was taken into custody the night of the shooting and charged with:

Three counts of discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle

Three counts of malicious wounding

Three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony

Danville Police say Baker was a passenger in a Chrysler sedan involved in the incident.

On Tuesday, June 3, Tyliek Niem Hanks, 26, of Java, Virginia, was arrested and charged with the same nine counts. Police identified Hanks as the driver of the vehicle.

Both suspects are now in custody, and investigators say the case remains active, with more arrests and charges anticipated.
