Brandon Jamaal Walton, 34, of Tyler, was arrested following a significant drug and firearms seizure at 409 Sutherland Drive. Law enforcement confiscated over 40 pounds of marijuana, 2 kilograms of cocaine, prescription medications, two loaded handguns, and a loaded rifle during a search on July 3, 2025.
Walton faces multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram of cocaine), manufacture and delivery of cocaine (400 grams or more), and possession of marijuana (50 pounds or more). His bond has been set at $1,153,500.
The investigation began after the Smith County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit and the Tyler DPS Criminal Investigations Division received a lead from Lindale Police Department about illegal narcotics being shipped to Walton’s residence. After obtaining a search warrant approved by Judge Reeve Jackson of the 114th State District Court, officers executed the raid.
Besides narcotics and firearms, authorities recovered over $15,000 in cash, a currency counter, scales, and packing materials consistent with drug distribution. During the search, several young children were found living in the home, prompting Child Protective Services to intervene over concerns about their safety amid illegal activity.
Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith emphasized that this arrest underscores the department’s commitment to combating drug trafficking, particularly marijuana’s role as a gateway drug leading to more dangerous substances. He called for continued aggressive enforcement and urged parents to educate their children on the dangers of illegal drugs.
“Dangerous drugs and opioids are killing our youth and destroying families,” Sheriff Smith said. “Shutting down distribution points is critical in fighting this epidemic, and parents must stay involved in their children’s lives.”
