Tyler, Texas – A prostitution sting in Smith County led to the arrests of three individuals last week, revealing potential human trafficking ties, according to arrest documents.
Tyirese Dews, Tisha Lee Nations, and Damian Borens were charged with promotion of prostitution and booked into the Smith County Jail late Thursday and early Friday.
According to affidavits, officers posed as “Johns” seeking to engage with prostitutes in an undercover operation aimed at identifying both traffickers and victims.
During the sting, Dews allegedly arranged a meeting between a victim and an undercover officer. Officers found his vehicle nearby and saw him trying to destroy his phone, which investigators believe contained evidence linking him to the operation. His phone received messages in sync with those sent to the victim, confirming his involvement in posting online advertisements. Authorities also noted that Dews is a documented gang member.
In a separate investigation, Borens and Nations were found near another suspected trafficking meetup. When an officer pulled them over, a 2-year-old and a 1-year-old child were discovered inside their vehicle.
Authorities determined that Nations created the online prostitution ad, while Borens controlled the victim’s interactions with the undercover officer. The victim was allegedly forced to contribute to hotel and gas expenses for the suspects, with the prostitution ads serving as a means to cover these costs.
All three suspects remain in Smith County Jail as investigations continue.
