Ty Anthony Sage Arrested After Mistaken Bail Release in Murder Case

Oregon man recaptured days after wrongful release on bail

Ty Anthony Sage, 26, was mistakenly released on bail earlier this week, prompting a widespread manhunt in Oregon. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Sage, who faces second-degree murder and first-degree robbery charges, was arrested Thursday at a gas station off Highway 101 in Florence, Oregon.

Sage was originally arrested in May in connection with the 2021 killing of 15-year-old Lowgunn Ivey. Despite being denied bail, an administrative error led to his release on September 22, sparking swift efforts by law enforcement to locate him.

Multnomah County Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell expressed regret over the mistake, stating, “This should not have happened,” and vowed to review the incident thoroughly. She emphasized that no staff have been suspended and that those involved acted in good faith based on available information.

The victim’s mother, Jodie Ramsey, shared her distress following Sage’s release, highlighting the pain and anxiety caused by the error. Ivey’s death is reportedly linked to a gun and drug deal between the victim and Sage.

Sheriff Morrisey O’Donnell reassured the public that this incident appears to be isolated and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to restoring trust and ensuring justice for the victims.
