Two Teens Arrested in Hammond Vehicle Burglary Spree

Police still searching for third suspect

HAMMOND, La. — Police in Hammond have arrested two teenagers in connection with a recent string of vehicle burglaries, with a third suspect still being sought.

Authorities confirmed the arrest of 17-year-old Carnecia Franklin, who has been booked on charges of:

Vehicle Burglary

Illegal Possession of Stolen Things

Monetary Instrument Abuse

Also arrested was 18-year-old Donald Varnado Jr., who police say was present with Franklin during the commission of the crimes. Varnado has been booked on two counts of vehicle burglary.

Investigation Still Ongoing
Law enforcement officials stated that a third person of interest is still at large. Details about this individual have not been released, but authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Hammond Police Department.

Police have not disclosed the total number of vehicles affected or the extent of the property stolen, but noted that several incidents were reported over the past few weeks in residential areas.
