In a crackdown on unlicensed medical practices, two men were arrested on Wednesday for running an illegal clinic and pharmacy in Sholinghur town, near Ranipet. The arrested individuals were N. Tamilvanan (46) and S. Pradeep Rai (35), both school dropouts and natives of Sholinghur.
Health officials discovered the illegal setup where the two quacks had been treating patients without any formal medical qualifications. They were also issuing prescriptions for various medicines, violating medical laws and putting the health of the public at risk.
The authorities took swift action after receiving complaints from concerned citizens, leading to the arrest of Tamilvanan and Rai. The clinic was found operating under unsanitary conditions, and further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of their illegal activities.
The case highlights the ongoing issue of quackery in rural and semi-urban areas, where unqualified individuals continue to provide dangerous and unauthorized medical services.
