Two Men Charged in 130-Vehicle Theft Spree

West Midlands suspects face conspiracy and handling charges

WOLVERHAMPTON, UK — Two men have been charged in connection with a spree of 130 vehicle thefts across the West Midlands.

Steven Swinburn, 28, and Liam Smith, 24, face charges of conspiracy to steal following a seven-month series of thefts and attempted thefts spanning Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell, and Staffordshire.

The arrests occurred on Wednesday in the All Saints and Low Hill areas of Wolverhampton. Officers also detained Liam Smith’s mother, Emma Smith, 45, who has been charged with handling stolen goods. She has been bailed to appear at Dudley Magistrates’ Court on 8 January.

Steven Swinburn and Liam Smith are due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on Friday. Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities have not ruled out further charges.
