ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Wendell Johnson, 53, and John Glass, 55, were arrested on Tuesday after a multi-year investigation led by Virginia State Police. The men have been federally charged with possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

The arrest followed the execution of two federal search warrants on the 2900 block of Yorktown Place SW and the 2400 block of Massachusetts Avenue NW, after surveillance revealed the arrival of a narcotics courier from California. Police observed the courier carrying two large duffle bags into one of the homes.

Authorities seized approximately eight kilograms of suspected cocaine and two kilograms of suspected fentanyl from the residence. Both Johnson and Glass are being held without bond at the Roanoke Adult Detention Center on a federal detainer, and additional charges are expected from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

This arrest is the result of a joint investigation between the Virginia State Police Star City Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Roanoke Police Department.
