Two Men Arrested for Southern Pines Bank Robbery

Suspects arrested in connection to April 11 robbery

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – Two men have been arrested in connection with a bank robbery that took place in Southern Pines on April 11.

Christopher Lee Bibey, 47, of 445 N. Bennett St., Southern Pines, was arrested on April 22, while Jaylan Garrett Schmidt, 24, of 306 Rockingham St., Carthage, was arrested earlier on April 18. Both men face charges related to the robbery, which occurred at a local bank.

According to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, the arrests were made with the assistance of the FBI, who helped track and apprehend the suspects.

The robbery, which occurred earlier this month, sparked an investigation that led to the identification and capture of the suspects. Details on the exact circumstances of the robbery and how the suspects were involved have not been fully disclosed, as the investigation remains ongoing.

Both men are now in custody, and law enforcement continues to work on the case.
