In a continued effort to curb drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and seized a significant quantity of narcotics from their possession.
According to a police spokesperson, the arrests were made during routine naka checking at Bumzu, where a motorcycle with registration number DL 7SBG-6867 was intercepted while traveling from Seer Hamdan to Mattan. Upon conducting a search of the motorcycle, officers recovered 8.305 kilograms of Charas powder-like substance from the two individuals riding the bike.
The accused have been identified as:
Kamil Ahmad Bhat – Son of Shabir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Pranbawan Mattan.
Numan Mushtaq Wani – Son of Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, resident of Krangsoo Mattan.
Both men were apprehended at the scene, and the motorcycle used for the commission of the crime was also seized.
A case (FIR No. 50/2025) has been registered at Police Station Mattan under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation is currently underway.
Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated their commitment to fighting drug trafficking and urged the public to stay vigilant. They also encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to narcotics, contributing to a drug-free society.
