Two junior engineers from Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL), Samir Sojitra and Vikas Mevada, were arrested by the Kadodara police on Friday in connection with a major theft of aluminium wires. The theft, involving wires worth Rs 7.8 lakh, was reported after the DGVCL official, Dipti Modi, filed a complaint on July 3.

The police investigation revealed that Sojitra, a junior engineer at the 66 KV sub-station in Kadodara, Surat district, and Mevada, who was stationed at the Kim DGVCL office, were involved in stealing the wires and selling them to a private contractor for only Rs 3.8 lakh.

Both the accused, residents of Surat city, have been taken into custody by the police for further investigation.
