Two people were found dead in an Elk Grove home following a shooting reported on Monday.
Elk Grove Police responded to a call about a shooting in the area of Eva Avenue and Adams Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man and a woman inside the home, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, both victims were declared dead at the scene.
Authorities identified Michael Diego, 39, as the suspect in the shooting. Diego is the estranged husband of the female victim. He was apprehended at a local hospital, where he was being treated for unspecified injuries. Once medically cleared, Diego will be booked into the county jail on suspicion of two counts of murder.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
