In a significant drug bust, Mufassil police in Bihar’s Purnea district arrested two individuals after seizing a substantial quantity of smack worth Rs 5 crore in the international market. The operation took place during a routine vehicle inspection drive on Thursday at around 2:15 a.m. on the NH-31 flyover near Balouri village.
The incident unfolded when a grey Swift car approached the police checkpoint from the Maranga side and, upon spotting the officers, tried to flee. One of the occupants exited the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot but was promptly captured by the police team.
The suspects were later identified as Raunak Kumar, a resident near the Khushki Bagh police station area in Sadar, Purnea, and Ricky Singh from Neva Lal Chowk, Maranga, Purnea. A thorough search of their vehicle led to the discovery of 5.19 kg of smack, a highly addictive drug, which could fetch up to Rs 5 crore in the international market.
Both suspects were arrested and are being interrogated by the authorities. The seizure highlights the ongoing efforts of Bihar police to combat drug trafficking and curb illegal drug trade in the region.
