In a significant development in the ongoing land fraud case in Thirumullaivoyal, the anti-land grabbing wing of the Avadi Commissionerate arrested two more individuals on Sunday. Thummakudi Venkata Krishna Rao, 52, from Nolambur, and Justin, 53, from Anna Nagar, were taken into custody in connection with the forgery of property documents for a plot valued at Rs3.66 crore. Both have been remanded to Puzhal prison.
Earlier, six other individuals – Surendar, Babu, Kamal, Paragchuda, Harikumar, and Syed Mohammad Farook – were arrested as part of the same investigation, which revealed a complex network of forged documents and fraudulent property transactions.
The case began when Jayachandran, a 33-year-old resident of Anna Nagar, purchased a 7,200 sqft plot in Thirumullaivoyal for Rs3.66 crore from a power agent named Surendar in November of the previous year. The property transaction was completed in the name of Jayachandran’s father, Arunachalam, at the Ambattur Sub-Registrar office.
However, after the purchase, Jayachandran discovered that the property he bought actually belonged to someone else. Following his complaint, the anti-land grabbing wing launched an investigation, led by Inspector Jayalakshmi. During the investigation, the police arrested a man named Kumar for allegedly forging the property documents.
Further investigation revealed that Surendar and Babu had sold the property to Jayachandran using fraudulent documents. They were also arrested, and their involvement led to the identification of others in the scam, including Thummakudi Venkata Krishna Rao and Justin.
