Two Arrested in West Virginia After Stolen Trucks and $70K in Property Recovered

by Sophia Bennett

A multi-state investigation following the theft of a Frontier Communications service truck led to the recovery of thousands of dollars in stolen property and the arrest of two suspects in Romney, West Virginia.

The theft was reported on March 1, with the stolen truck’s GPS pinging a location near Bedford, Pennsylvania. The investigation escalated on March 8, when a second stolen vehicle, a GMC truck, was found near where the Frontier truck had been taken.

The breakthrough came when Cumberland, Maryland Police discovered the GMC truck towing a stolen trailer. Lindsey Teresi, 30, of Cumberland, Maryland, was arrested, but the investigation continued as the unknown male traveling with her fled in the stolen Frontier truck, also pulling a trailer.

The next day, Hampshire County deputies located the stolen Frontier truck at a campground in Hampshire County. A search of the campground revealed two suspects, identified as Johnathan Church, 43, of Goldsboro, MD, and Jarel Schaefer, 43, of Denton, MD, living in a stolen camper. Additionally, a side-by-side vehicle, trailers, generators, and 11 firearms — including an illegal AR-15 and other rifles — were found, all reported stolen.

Church and Schaefer, both convicted felons and wanted fugitives in Maryland and Delaware, were arrested and charged with grand larceny, possession of stolen property, felon in possession of a firearm, conspiracy, and being fugitives from justice.

The value of the stolen property recovered was estimated at around $70,000.
