The Birsanagar police have solved a theft case in Vijayanagar, arresting two accused and recovering stolen jewellery and other valuables.
The arrested individuals are Vikas Das (23) and Rohit Gorai (24), both residents of Road No. 3, Birsanagar. Police recovered two nose pins, a nose ring, a pair of silver anklets, a silver hand ornament, a mobile phone, coins worth Rs 5–10, and a bag from their possession.
The theft was reported from the house of Ashok Kumar Mourya, where the duo allegedly broke the lock and stole jewellery and cash totaling nearly Rs 1.20 lakh.
The case was formally disclosed on Thursday by Birsanagar Police Station in-charge Santosh Kumar. Acting on the instructions of the SSP, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the guidance of the City SP and led by the DSP. Swift action by the team led to the apprehension of the accused.
Both Vikas Das and Rohit Gorai are being processed for judicial custody and will be remanded to jail soon.
